Plopsa Coo theme park

Plopsa Coo started under the name of Télécoo, because of its spectacular chair lift giving access to a breathtaking observation tower and is dedicated to families. Aimed primarily at children, it offers a varied choice of attractions and promises the chance to meet some friendly animals such as monkeys.

Nestled in a valley in the Ardennes, the park is continually evolving and offers an interesting mix of dynamic attractions and moments of relaxation.

Its most original attractions are:

  • The Schtroumpfeur, rollercoaster, new since July 2022
  • The safe outdoor go-kart track
  • Vicky the Ride, a rollercoaster with a carriage that turns on itself
  • Monkey Island and the small animal farm
  • A well-maintained 18-hole miniature golf course

Affordably priced, the park is just a few minutes from the train station. Our hotel-restaurant is just opposite the entrance to Plopsa Coo, overlooking the waterfall.

The Amblève Valley

Rising in the High Fens, the Amblève is a tributary of the Ourthe. Its valley is considered to be one of the most magnificent in Belgium. In its basin with its tributaries, hikers will find interesting sites such as the Rocher de Falize, the Rocher de Warche and the Point of view of the Congo.

During the winter, the region has a few ski slopes. In summer, at the foot of the Coo waterfall, you'll even find the Amblève pebble beach’s bordering the theme park. You can see them from our café "Au Vieux Moulin".

A rather original monument not far from Coo is the Basil Sanatorium. This is an abandoned sanatorium.

Opened in 1903, it was used as a psychiatric asylum and residential centre. Closed since 2013 and left to rot, its imposing architecture and urban legends make it a real attraction.

Stavelot and Francorchamps

The town of Stavelot is around 5 kilometres from Coo, about an hour's walk. It is famous for its abbey, which contains archaeological remains dating back to the 11th century. The town was founded in the 7th century, making it one of the oldest in Belgium.

The town is home to a number of places of interest, including the ‘Place Saint-Remacle’ and the ‘Chapelle Saint-Laurent’. Of course, the abbey attracts most of the tourists for its three museums:

  • Museum of the Principality of Stavelot-Malmédy
  • Museum of Guillaume Apollinaire
  • Spa-Francorchamps racetrack museum

Francorchamps is part of the municipality of Stavelot (as is Coo too) and is the home of the famous motor racing circuit more commonly known as "Spa-Francorchamps". As well as the famous Formula 1 Grand Prix, it hosts internationally renowned events such as the 24 Hours of Spa and the Bikers Classics. Visitors to these races are of course welcome to stay at our hotel or restaurant in Coo!

December 44 Museum

The December 1944 Museum is not only a place to tell the story of our dark past, but also a legacy to ensure that future generations remember the mistakes of the past and do not repeat them.

It is also a place of remembrance where battles were fought and where today, American, British and German veterans and their families often gather at La Gleize to look at the many monuments erected in memory of the hundreds who died, to honour their sacrifices.
